Meandering - Words Speak Life

It gets me every spring. On a mute, dull grey canvas, splatters of vibrant green begin to appear. Harbingers - sprouts, blades of grass, be-speckled over the landscape speak of new life, new beginnings, and good things to come.

It also reminds of what Solomon’ wrote regarding the power of encouraging, life giving words. “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” (Proverbs 16:24)  Such words, rightly spoken (or written) by someone who believes in you and wants the best for you, can lift you out of the bleakest muck and mire and get you going again with real hope for the future.

The savant Solomon also wrote, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21) As the vitality of green takes over the lifeless grey this spring, may our words as well, through Christ Jesus, speak the power of life and hope to those around us.

This Sunday we will look at the fourth in the I Am series. Providentially it’s all about Jesus as our Good Shepherd who ever leads us to green pastures, restoring our souls.

Thanks meandering along with me.
