Reflection & Discussion
Warm-up. What yard work do you enjoy most/least?
Read: Psalm 139:23-24. Ask God to bless your study.
1. What does it take to honestly pray, “Search me, O God” (Psalm 139:23)? What fears or barriers might prevent you from asking God to examine your heart?
2. Why is it significant that David asks God - not himself or others - to test his heart and thoughts? How can you grow in trusting God's evaluation over your own perceptions?
3. What are some common “(anxious) thoughts" (v. 23) believers wrestle with today? How can inviting God into your anxiety change how you deal with fear or stress?
4. What might a “grievous way" (v. 24) look like in our modern context? How can we remain open to correction without becoming defensive?
5. What does “lead me in the way everlasting” mean practically in your daily life? How do you stay on that path in the midst of distractions, temptations, or suffering?
6. What would change in your life if you made David’s prayer of repentance and self-examination a regular practice?
7. What is one area of your heart you need to invite God into this week?
