Reflection & Discussion

Small Group Discussion - Your Story Sermon - Pastor Al Kirkbride

Warm Up: If you are 54 years, 9 months and 2 days old, you would have lived 20,000 thousand days.  Reflect on your own age (either more or less than that milestone) what in your life has impacted your story the most?  What role does Christ play in those milestones?

Read Acts 1:8. Jesus says we are witnesses.
What is the difference between being a witness and being a lawyer defending a case?

Read John 4:39. What did the woman actually say to her town?

Why do you think her testimony was so powerful?

What does this teach us about how God can use ordinary people to influence others?

If you had two minutes to share your testimony, what would be the three main parts of your story?  Share briefly with the group.

Helpful structure:

  • Life before Christ

  • How you came to Christ

  • How Christ is changing you now

How to Prepare Your Christian Testimony

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”
— 1 Peter 3:15

A Simple 3-Part Structure

1. Life Before Christ

Briefly describe what your life or understanding of God was like before you trusted Christ.

Helpful questions:

  • What was most important to you?

  • What struggles or questions did you have?

  • What was missing spiritually?

⚠️ Keep this short. The focus should not be on past sin.

2. How You Came to Christ

Explain how you came to believe in Jesus.

Helpful questions:

  • What led you to consider the gospel?

  • Who influenced you?

  • What moment or realization helped you trust Christ?

3. Life Since Christ

Share how Jesus is changing your life today.

Helpful questions:

  • What difference has Christ made?

  • What new hope or direction has He given you?

  • How are you growing in your relationship with Him?
