Reflection & Discussion
Warm-up. What might be on your tombstone?
Read: Acts 20:17-38. Pray for your study!
1. What does Paul’s humility, tears, and trials teach us about faithful, missional living (vv. 19-21)?
2. Why is it significant that Paul says he declared the whole counsel of God publicly and house to house? How does Paul model both boldness and tenderness in ministry?
3. What does verse 24 teach us about Paul’s priorities and how he viewed his life?
4. What does it mean for a pastor (or any Christian) to be “innocent of the blood of all”? How might the idea of proclaiming the “whole counsel of God” challenge us in an age of everyone doing what’s right in their own eyes?
5. How does Paul warn about “fierce wolves” from outside and even from within (vv. 29-31)? What practical steps can we take today to guard ourselves against false teaching?
6. How does Paul contrast his ministry with those who exploit others for money? What does Paul mean by reminding them of Jesus’ words: “It is more blessed to give than to receive”?
7. How does the prayer and weeping at the end of the passage display the depth of Christian love and fellowship?
8. Which part of Paul’s example of ministry challenges you the most? How can you personally embody Paul’s commitment to living on mission in your life today?
