Reflection & Discussion
Warm-up. When is it hard to submit to King Jesus?
Read: John 12:12-15; Rev 5. Ask God to bless your study.
1. What does it mean that Jesus, entering Jerusalem, is called the “Son of David”, and what is the connection to Revelation 5 where he is also called the “Root of David”?
2. What is so sad about the scene in Revelation 5:2-4?
3. What is significant about the fact that the Lamb is slain (5:6)? How does this show Christ’s finished work (Exodus 12:1-28)?
4. How does John 1:29 help keep you from being disingenuous in serving and loving Jesus as King?
5. Jesus, our phenomenally worthy King, has given us his mission and the Holy Spirit to empower us (John 20:21-23; Rev 5:9-10). How should this move us to think, pray, and act?
6. The people around the throne are from every tribe and nation and language (5:9-10). What does this tell us about the nature of the church and how we should live in the world today?
7. John’s vision also involves a future anticipation. Do you look forward to the return of King Jesus? How can you keep Christ’s return as a present hope and expectation in your life?
