NMBC Enews - 2026-03-27

Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”  Mark 11:9-10

JOIN us this SUNDAY morning, onsite at 9:15 & 11:00, and online at 11:00, Pastor Paul shares a Palm Sunday message entitled “Hosanna” from John 12:12-19.

Holy Week Easter at NMBC.  Join us as we celebrate the hope we have in Jesus' life, death and resurrection this Easter season. Happening again this year will be our regular Easter Services: Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday.  Continuing this year is our church-wide Easter breakfast on Saturday.  Mark your calendars for these four events.

Come fellowship at our Easter Breakfast happening Saturday, April 4 at 8:30am.  We will start in the sanctuary with a couple songs and celebration, then moving collectively down to the gym to share a meal together.  Free will donation to help cover the cost and proceeds above and beyond will go towards our Easter Offering.

Easter Offering - This year’s Easter Offering will be designated toward continued improvements in our café space. Recently we have refreshed the café with new paint, enhanced serving areas for coffee, and have ordered comfortable new sofas that will soon help create an even more welcoming environment. With your support, we hope to continue improving the space with additional media capabilities, lighting, and sound so the café can become a vibrant place for Sunday coffee time, ministry programs, and connection throughout the week.  This space has been a real blessing as people gather here to feel welcomed and connected.

Easter Sunday.  He is Risen!  Join us for a great Sunday as we have baptisms, worship, a Easter message from Pastor Jon, and between services premium coffee, tea, lattés, hot cross buns, Apple Cider Donuts and Glutten Free Cake.

Interested in baptism?  Please reach out to us about having a conversation about what it means and to be included in one of our upcoming services.  Please speak with one of the pastors, CLICK HERE.

ALPHA - Not too late to Join - We’re inviting seekers, skeptics, and question-askers to explore life’s biggest questions together, through Alpha.  Alpha is a welcoming space for people who are curious about faith, Jesus, and the meaning of life. No pressure. No judgment. Just honest conversations in a friendly environment. Each Alpha night includes food, a short video, and open discussion.  You don’t need to have the answers — just a willingness to ask the questions.  If you're interested in volunteering, there are several ways to help: host table conversations, prepare meals, pray, or simply be present.  If you have a heart for people who are searching, Alpha is one of the most powerful ways to serve.  Please reach out to Pastor Al al.kirkbride@nmbc.ca or Danielle Delong danielle.m.delong@gmail.com

A Ladies' Craft Night is scheduled for TONIGHT, March 27, in the Cafe, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.  Please bring a craft and a snack to share.

Join us for Taizé Prayer this Saturday, March 28th, at 7 pm at NMBC. This service during Lent will prepare our hearts for Holy Week. The scriptural meditative songs of Taizé are worshipfully sung in acknowledgment of God’s presence within us and around us. Taizé was founded in 1940 in response to the war's refugees. It is a “parable of community” — a symbol of reconciliation among divided Christians and separated peoples. This is an opportunity for Christians of all ages and backgrounds to pray in unity.  For more information, please contact Avery Peters at avery.peters@gmail.com.

“Listening Session”. If you are 17-25 years old and consider New Minas Baptist your home church, we want to hear from you. The pastoral search committee will hold its first “listening session” with the congregation, this first one being focused on the young adults in our congregation.
Please join us THIS Sunday, March 29 immediately after the second service for a free lunch, followed by a facilitated discussion.
In the upcoming week(s) afterwards we’ll have a “listening session” open to the whole church congregation and also to our Filipino friends.
The Governance Board continues to seek an interim senior pastor to serve at NMBC and thanks you for praying for God’s guidance in this season of transition.

Women's Bible Study - Join us for week 2 this coming Thursday at 7pm.   Women of all ages are invited to join us for our next Bible study as we journey through Breaking Free by Beth Moore. This powerful study explores how God leads us out of spiritual strongholds and into the freedom found in Christ. Together, we will spend time in Scripture, discussion, and encouragement as we grow in our relationship with God and with one another.

The cost of the study book is $37 per person.  If cost is ever an issue, please let us know, because we never want people to miss out because of expenses.

Come and be part of a meaningful time of learning, prayer, and community with other women seeking the freedom Christ offers. More details about dates and meeting times will be shared soon.  Register at: https://nmbc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/561/responses/new

“Guess Who’s Coming for Supper?”

On Sunday, April 26, we’re inviting our entire church family to take part in a special evening of food and fellowship. Our hope is to see homes across our church opened up as we gather together around the table and build deeper connections with one another.

Right now, we’re looking for hosts—those willing to open their homes and welcome others for a shared meal.

How it works:

  • First, we gather sign-ups from those willing to host in their homes.

  • Next, we’ll open sign-ups for those who would like to attend.

  • We’ll take care of all the arrangements—pairing guests with hosts—and provide you with the details of where you’ll be going.

You’ll receive your group information ahead of time so you can connect, but part of the fun is the surprise—you may find yourself sharing a meal with people you don’t yet know well. Our prayer is that this evening strengthens our sense of church family and creates meaningful new relationships.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Pastor Al.
