CHILD DEDICATION.png

CHILD DEDICATION is a commitment for parents to raise their child in the ways of the Lord. During our Child Dedication this Sunday, the parents participating are provided the opportunity to make a public declaration to raise their children in a Christ centred home, and do all they can to lead them to know and believe the gospel. The church family is a part of this celebration and is asked to commit to support these parents in their calling. This dedication is not a statement of salvation for a child, but rather a statement of how the parents desire to raise their child in the knowledge and instruction of the Lord.

“I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” 1 SAMUEL 1:27-28

THE NEW CITY CATECHISM is a modern-day resource aimed at helping children and adults alike learn the core doctrines of the Christian faith via 52 questions and answers. Look below for this week’s catechism question. Learn more at www.newcitycatechism.com

Question 31: What do we believe by true faith?

Everything taught to us in the gospel. The Apostles’ Creed expresses what we believe in these words: We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Jude 3
